Year 3

Welcome back to Year 3... for the final half term!

This term, our topic is Scrumdiddlyumptious

And so the end is near,

And now we face the final curtain...

In reading, our class novel will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Children will read texts about the journey chocolate undergoes from humble beginnings as a bean on a cacao tree in Brazil to being traded in shops back home. Pupils will continue to make inferences and draw contextual evidence from a text to support in the answering of questions.

Our writing this half term will be linked to our trip to Cadbury World on 9th June. The children will record the events of the day through photos and notes and then write a recount of the trip. We will also write a narrative based on the adventures of Willy Wonka's travels to find Umpa Lumpas on different planets. In maths, our focus will be on the use of metric measurement, solving problems involving units of length (m), weight(g) and capacity(l).

How can you help?

· Encourage your child to read at home.

· Practice the spellings list of common exception words for Year 3.

· Assist your child with their homework.

· Ensure children know their 4 and 8 times tables.

Just a reminder:

Please can you ensure your child brings the correct P.E. kit to school on their PE day; (black shorts/leggings/joggers, trainers and a white t-shirt).

3G- Tuesday (Outdoor) and Friday (Indoor)

3T- Monday (Outdoor) and Tuesday (Indoor)

3O- Monday (Outdoor) and Tuesday (Indoor)

In the interest of maintaining the standards of our ambitious school family can we request that children arrive promptly for school and in correct uniform (this includes black shoes- not trainers.)

Reports will be out at the end of this term. As this is now the final term we would like to thank all of the children and parents for their support and hard work in making this a wonderful year!
